Nightmares and Art: what are we made of? part 1

"Nightmare of War"
When I was young, I had a nightmare of war I suppose, but a vision of fear and power it definatly was. There was a misty haze which carried ghostly lights, and distorted sounds through what appeared to be a muddy dead landscape.  Dead trees raked at the sky, and I heard howls of defiance cower into whimpering sobs, bellows of self pity lacking all empathy. I did not know why I was there but I could guess on eventual confrontation with something, and I was not armed very well. Wearing rags with only a hand axe and a long knife, standing  ready I could see it's approach through the oddly lit fog. I knew I must defeat it but I knew not how, It had seemed as though every confrontation was absorbed and hanging from it, a part of this thing. They all howled and mourned there contribution to this fiend, though they lusted in it's fulfillment of pain and eternal violence. This creature's fibrous sinew stretched and slithered with the intensity of every step, I could not figure the best approach, I was uneasy. This sensation was strangling my concentration, and risked me handling this foe stupidly and wild. If I was in one place for too long , the heavy flail would break me, his short sword was swift and could out fence me, and if I closed the distance his knife would pierce my heart. This is when I woke from this dream, I don't know what it means but it was creepy. I have always remembered this dream, I believe I was in middle school when I had this nightmare. If nothing else It allowed for an excellent background for this ink and marker drawing, giving it deeper meaning and making it far more haunting. How would you defeat the nightmare of war?

He Who Lets Evil In, Horror Painting

He Who Lets Evil In is a horror painting done with acrylic paint on 5x7 canvas panel. This is from a series of paintings all done on the same size panel. I'll be posting the rest of this nightmareish art in the near future.

I decided to paint these small paintings after I got so much good feedback on mirrors I did earlier. I decided to paint a smaller and more affordable versions since many of my fans don't have enough money to be able so drop a few hundred dollars on a painting. With these I can keep my fans happy and keep on doing what I love most, horror and fantasy arts of all shapes and sizes.

Just added this one to my red bubble, it can not be purchased as a post card or greeting card.

Comic Strip

This Is the first page of a comic strip I'm working on. I will sell prints of this page in Unnerving Nightmare shop on etsy as this page is a story in itself. The rest of the story will be drawn though, eventually... This comic book/graphic novel will be about a man who in the proces of killing monsters became a monster himself. I'd like to bring your attention to the eyes of the monster that just got slain in the middle of the page. What do you see in them? Who is this monster? Wad he always an abomination? The eyes drow a very good picture about this monster being not all that bad, he just got cought up and couldn't find his way. Death was his only way out, and death he got.

5 Faced Mirror

Horror painting done on a mirror frame. I love doing stretched faces, can you tell?
This one is not as scary as the one with 3 faces, but it's enough to get old ladies to make disgusted face and walk away. Better yet, old man to turn away from it as soon as they get a glimpse with the look on their face that reads "I didn't see it, I swear I didn't see it, God please don't send me to sell for looking at it, I didn't see anything." If I god a $1 for every person that got disgusted after looking at this painting, I'd be rich.
